Tour of the westernmost tip of the Montsant mountain range, advised to enjoy direct contact with nature, contemplate the landscape and take magnificent photographs. The ascending section is made by the Tossal Pelat in a staggered way. The arrival to the crest line of the Serra Major allows us to see a magnificent view of the large number of ravines that originate in this part of the mountain massif. This excursion requires a lot of time to enjoy the landscape. It is a very suitable route to do it during autumn or spring, when the deciduous trees have all their foliage. It can be done in summer, since the road runs largely through shady places. It should not be done in case of fog. You have to be very careful if the rocks are wet. The tour can be completed with a visit to a centennial era nailed to the top of a stone monolith.
We left the healthy path near the Fonda de Margalef, crossing the ravine of Sant Salvador, we started climbing among the olive trees the hill of Tossal Pelat. We will find the indication on the healthy path where the ascension begins. From there, there is a path that will allow us to cross the ridge, being able to observe the ravine of Sant Salvador on the right and the one of Coma Negra on the left. Terraces on the hillside will accompany us in their peculiar dance with the mountain. The road has no loss, we will pass through places as special as the centennial era, located on the top of a rock, an ideal point to carry out the process of winnowing the wheat. We continue the ascent through a wooded area that will eventually lead us to the path of the Serra Major. We must pay attention to the last bifurcations of the road, following the milestones so as not to get lost in our goal of reaching the Serra Major.
